Happy 2012

Well, it's mom and Royal here, finally getting down to business and updating this blog! A lot has happened since our last post!
First off, our baby brother Archer finally arrived!

After talking with my Doctor about whether I should attempt a VBAC or schedule a C-section, my Dr. determined the likelihood that I have a bone structure problem and that's why I had trouble delivering my first baby. We scheduled the C-section for  August 18th, 2011 and Archer was born at about 7:30 am!

He is now 6 months old and is doing great! He even made it through his first terrible cough and cold. What a trooper!

Pete turned the big 30 on January 24th and we had an awesome Video Game party for him. We had a lot of friends come and had a great time!
I turned 26 on February 12th. No party for me thanks... instead a ran out and got a pedicure with my good buddy Renee!

Pete has been running his own business Rughster Design for the last 4-5 years and has had a lot of success. We recently decided to reduce some stress and Pete has a great new job that he loves! ( He still does a lot of his own work on the side as well) He now work s for Super Top Secret, a creative agency in Downtown, Salt Lake City.

I usually spend my days here at home with these crazy, cute boys. My days are full of diaper changing, doing laundry, cleaning up never-ending messes... but I'm loving every minute of it. Along with being a mom, I spend a lot of time sewing and doing some family history work.

I'm sure there will be more posted in the family history department but I've been busy getting a couple family websites up. It's been a lot of fun. I'll post some links when things are rolling.

In the mean time, enjoy these photos of what we've been up to!

Almost there...

Well, last night and this morning I have had some SERIOUS contractions - they're making me a little nervous but I'm sure nothing is going on.

Two weeks ago I had really high blood pressure and it was looking like I was getting pre-eclampsia again. She told me she wanted me to rest up and take time for myself to relax. That was a little hard since we just moved that weekend and now live with my in-laws.... and had a giant family reunion to attend.

I we went back on Monday and my blood pressure was better so that was a relief. We read over my hospital report from my delivery with Royal and in the end, she said she thought that the chances of a successful VBAC were slim but still left that as an option for me if that was something I was really set on. She said she would hate to have me to go through another labor like I did with Royal only to have the same end result of a c-section but she ultimately left the decision in my hands. If there's one thing I love about my Dr. It's that she doesn't pressure me in any way. She's very reassuring and somehow makes me feel like whatever I choose is a great decision. She's said before that even though she's my Dr., no one knows my body like I do and that counts for a lot.

We took into consideration how long I was in labor and the fact that I only progressed to an 8. She said that if I would have "arrested progression" between 1-5 cm of dilation, it might be likely that a VBAC could be a success(mostly just because there's no way of knowing) but the fact that I stopped progressing between 5-10 cm's and that I was stuck at an 8 for so long, even after all their methods of trying to move things along...that told her it was most likely a pelvic bone issue that was making it difficult to progress/dilate. Things clicked a little bit more when I told her about my sister having the same trouble... and about how a physical therapist once told me that one side of my pelvis was smaller than the other and that was causing my hips to rotate wrong (I was having a lot of pain at the time when I would walk).

We feel good about our decision and have chosen to have baby Archer on August 19th around 5:00 pm! We'll be having him at Salt Lake Regional Hospital where Royal was born.

Moving is never fun...

Well we have roughly 5 weeks until baby Rugh #2 is due to arrive and I'm feelin' it!
I knew that at this point in this pregnancy things were going to be crazy... but I'm just not ready to deal with it all!

Like clockwork, all at once, I've got sinus infections, swelling, headaches, carpal tunnel, bad acid reflux and heart burn and horrible pelvic pain as a result of my weird sized bones. Lets not forget about how bad these contractions are the second time around. Wow!

We are in the process of moving and OH. BOY. For those who don't know, my in-laws are moving back east for a year and are having us stay in their house while they are gone. Don't get me wrong, we would be pretty crazy to pass up a good opportunity like this to save money and pay off some debt.. but the fact of the matter is - I would rather move somewhere else (or stay where we are) where I know my cats are welcome, where I'm not afraid I'm going to ruin a $5,000 couch and where I can feel comfortable moving things around the way I want them.

I'm really going to miss living here (We have so much space for another baby) but mostly, I'm just going to miss having my OWN space! It's been really, really emotionally hard for me to pack up this place knowing that it's going to be a long time until I can my own things in my own space and feel comfortable again. I don't care if I can put up a couple pictures and paint a couple walls. It's still not my house. Plus, just telling someone that you're moving into your in-laws house automatically makes me feel like I'm telling them that we can't get our act together and have to move into someone's basement. It's a little embarrassing. The trickiest thing for me has been to pack up everything into boxes and not be able to create a space and be ready for our new baby. It's like I'm nesting in reverse..

I've tried to take some initiative as far as organizing things and moving things in efficiently (Since I'm not very helpful as far as lifting furniture and carrying boxes) but instead, somehow, me doing what I have done has been transformed into me being pushy.

Maybe I'll go stay in a hotel for the next 5 weeks and pretend I'm on vacation!

Summer 'round the city...

We went to the Scottish Festival again this year. We were so happy it wasn't rainy like it has been the last 2 years. Royal loved watching the bagpipe bands and marching around the fields. He loves drums and talked about them all night!

Last weekend we drove out to the Spiral Jetty with Pete's Aunt Christine and her husband doug. It had been a few years since we had been out so it was a fun drive! It was mostly underwater this time but that wasn't a huge surprise. We stopped and found a bunch of geocaches while we were out there too.

Cabin Trip - June 2011

We tried to sneak in a trip to the cabin before I couldn't travel as I got closer to my due date. We had a fun time with our friends Nat and Renee and their daughter Josephine and with my sister Shannon and her family! The cabin is always more fun with lots of people!

Royal's 2nd Birthday - May 2011

Royal had a great 2nd Birthday! We had a Thomas party and had all his Utah cousins over as well as some other friends. We had a big BBQ, opened presents and had some cake! He hit the jackpot for sure! Thanks to all our friends and family who came and made it a fun day!

Disneyland - April 2011

My sister Shannon and I decided we wanted to take one last trip with our "first borns" before our second boys came. We made the drive down to Disneyland, not without the help of a pair of glorious DVD headrests, and had a great 3 day vacation! We were both pregnant but made it through!. We had so much fun!
